It is based on the eponymous story “From the Thousand and One Nights”, in which a young woman named Scheherazade escapes her threatened execution by her husband, the Sultan Shahriar, by telling him exciting stories. Rimsky-Korsakov takes up this frame story musically in his composition. The play of motifs shows how Scheherazade invents her characters and tames the cruel sultan. At the same time, “Scheherazade” is a showpiece for orchestra and a breathtaking display of virtuoso soloists The masters come from original sources and were pressed at OPTIMAL in audiophile top quality on 180g heavyweight vinyl. The album is rounded off with the original cover design. |
