Antje Weithaas (Violin)
Stavanger Symfoniorkester (Ορχήστρα)Steven Sloane (Μαέστρος)

This is in so far a PREMIERE as it is the first orchestral recording with works of the great solo concert literature for Antje Weithaas. And of course the fulfilment of a great wish of the artist, whose favourite pieces can be heard here. At the time of the recording (2012) Steven Sloane was still the principal conductor of the Stavanger Sympfoniorkesters

Another recording of the Beethoven Violin Concerto? Is the number of role models not sufficient to overwhelming? Antje Weithaas laughs: “I know. But I have been so intensively involved with the piece that I believe I have now found a reading that makes me somewhat self-sufficient. I feel a certain inner security with the piece I love so much.” She remembers exactly how, as a pupil, she would lay a much-used, parental music edition on the music stand without worrying about it, in order to start an attempt to play the concerto off the sheet. Right at the beginning of her studies she had seriously conquered the work – since then it has been her constant companion.

Both concerts are “heavenly music” for Antje Weithaas. There are so few words for that. It allows us to look so deeply into the souls of the composers.” She pauses briefly: “But also mine.” (Excerpt from the booklet text by Cornelia de Reese)
