EuroArts releases first opera on Ultra HD Blu-ray

For the first time ever W. A. Mozart’s famous opera Le Nozze di Figaro is available in 4k as of November 25, 2016.

EuroArts is known for pursuing cutting-edge technologies to allow our viewers an even more extensive classical music experience. With our 2010 production The Berliner Philharmoniker – A Musical Journey in 3D we brought the worldwide first classical 3D movie to the screen.

In coproduction with UNITEL and ServusTV, and in cooperation with the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra and the Salzburg Festival, and with the support of digim and Sony DADC, EuroArts releases the very first opera on Ultra HD Blu-ray, compatible with all 4k capable Blu-ray players, in November 2016. With 3840 x 2160px with 50 pictures per second, the new 4k standard offers a four times higher resolution compared to Full HD, resulting in a much higher image definition and smoothness. Furthermore viewers get to enjoy the entire performance in either 96KHz / 24bit PCM stereo or in 96KHz / 24bit DTS 5.0 surround sound. Figaro has never looked this sharp nor sounded this crystal-clear on a TV screen – it is a true feast for ones eyes and ears! As an additional extra we included a digital opera guide with interesting background information and comments from the director.

Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro is an unforgettable opera about love, desire and the primal force of uncontrollable passion. Concluding the Salzburg Festival’s highly successful Mozart/Da Ponte cycle, director Sven-Eric Bechtolf sets this emotional tour de force in a stately English country house during the 1920s. The renowned Vienna Philharmonic ensures an exceptional evening of music from Mozart’s birthplace.
